Customer Stories of Quality
Inspection Company BackMorning

Learn how we can help you with quality inspections for LED lighting

BackMorning is a quality inspector who specializes in the LED lighting industry.
We help brand owners and lighting solution companies assure LED lights’ quality.
In plain English, we make sure that the LED lights they buy from manufacturers are up to par.
If you are having issues with quality subjects, quite sure we are here to help.

As we continue to grow, one of the most important things is to hear from customers.
Below are the pictures of the beautiful moments that we stay with some of our customers.

And, we have three stories about another 3 customers to share with you here.
They’re the best way to show you what we do, and why it matters to you.
Especially, in an industry where quality is undoubtedly important.

1. Lekise in Thailand

One of our stories is about Lekise.

  • A reputable LED lighting manufacturer and installer in Thailand.
  • They have been around for more than 70 years.
  • And have distribution channels all over Southeast Asia.
  • And have a testing lab of their own in Thailand.

Obviously, quality can never be over-emphasized for such a brand.

As a common practice for multinationals, Lekise also purchases LED lights from China.
And their Supply Chain Management department has professionals with experience with international companies – such as Dell, HP, etc.
It didn’t take time for them to recognize the concept, value, and practices of BackMorning.

Needless to say, it is always good to move forward step by step.
So, before working with us, Lekise verifies 3 small projects with BackMorning.

The result?

  • They realize they will need to invest in a new lab in China to achieve the same professionalism.
  • Besides the hardware, also need people with the right skills and experience.
  • The key point is the training, the experience, and the time to build a team of excellent professionals.
  • Comparatively, it’d be a better choice to work with BackMoring, which already has these things.
  • BackMorning can provide superior service quality and efficiency at more flexible costs.

Therefore, they decide to work with us on all their most important projects.

In 2019, we have the honor to visit Lekise’s headquarters in Bangkok.
The CEO receives us and sends us a special authorization for quality inspection.
And we are the only third-party supplier quality management company with it.

For sure, we have to think globally.
But we also need to pay attention to some local features of a market.

  • Thailand is hot and humid across most of the country throughout most of the year.
  • The wet season is characterized by heavy rains and thunderstorms.
  • Lightning flashes through the skies and the booming sounds of thunder can be quite a shock.

As you can see, a market can have features of its own due to some natural factors.
This will require additional attention to some functions and parameters.
Therefore, BackMorning spends extra effort on simulating such a working environment for Lekise.
And the purpose is to ensure the lifespans of lighting products in this market.
Particularly, waterproof performance and the ability against lightning surges are critical inspecting points.

BackMorning is always happy to think for our customers.
And we will do the same for you if we will have the honor to work together.

2. L Company in South America

Next, I wish to share my 2nd customer story.
It is about L company (they prefer not to display their full name).

They are in South America and specialize in lighting projects.

  • Do lighting design and installation projects.
  • As for the LED lights, purchase from China.
  • Don’t do wholesale or retail business.
  • Only sell their lights to installation businesses.
  • In recent years, the annual purchase amount has been about 1 million USD.
  • Most of this money is for panel lights, downlights, and track lights.

People of L company visit our booth at Hongkong Lighting Fair 2016.
And drop by our office after the fair.

  • They are serious about process management.
  • Prefer to test before making a final decision.
  • So, they send us 2 downlight samples for data comparison at the beginning.

After confirming that the data is accurate, they begin working with us.
Usually, they send us 5 – 20 lights for IES tests.
They have been working with us for over 6 years now.
And they’ve seen some pretty incredible results.

L used to buy panel lights (diameters 800mm and 1,000mm) directly from their manufacturers.
Unfortunately, they have had many issues related to quality after installation.

  • For example, low luminous flux, light spots, flickering and loose hanging ropes, etc.

Needless to say, there is always a cost behind everything.
They decide to work with a third-party inspector to minimize costs due to quality.
Obviously, it’d be better if we identify and solve the problems before delivering the goods.
From then on, we test samples and do an inspection before shipment for each order.

It’s been simple and our pleasure to work with L.
Whenever they need us to do something, they just tell us,
And we will always try our best.

However, there is a difficult moment too.

  • At that moment, we may not be able to keep working together.
  • The key point is with one of the major panel light suppliers.
  • We find many issues related to product quality during each inspection.
  • But the factory won’t accept them.
  • It always takes us a lot of time to communicate and explain all these things.
  • Even so, there are still big risks to product quality.

Later on, L asks:

  • Are you not willing to work with us anymore?
  • Or are you not willing to deal with this specific factory?

And we say:

  • We prefer not to work with this factory anymore.
  • They focus on cost-effectiveness and usually compromise quality over cost.
  • But both you and BackMorning prefer quality over cost.
  • It is against our principle to continue working with such a factory.

Thankfully, they changed their supplier.
And we continue working together on more projects.

Besides helping L company minimize quality issues, we also help them lower costs.

  • From time to time, we receive downlight samples from them.
  • The shipping fee is expensive, and we come up with a cost-saving solution.
  • Some downlights and track lights have the same light source and bodies – only different lenses.
  • They just need to send us one body and various lenses.
  • After we receive samples, we can assemble various lenses to test.

Meanwhile, we keep a set of their common power supply in our lab.
They only need to send us the light body for each test.

That’s what we wish to share with you about L company.
It’s really a great pleasure to work with them for these years.
And next, I wish to tell you the most challenging story.

3. A Group – The Challenge that Pushes Every Step to the Limit

My third story is about A group.
They are the most challenging customer to work with.
This is because they are one of the top 10 brands in the world.
So, take their brand very seriously.
And we have to push every step to the limit of perfection.

  • They have a strict supplier quality management system.
  • And a team full of experts who are excellent in supplier quality management.
  • It’s not easy to become their quality management service provider.

There are some notable differences between A group and other customers.
And unquestionably more challenges in various aspects.

First of all, the first and the most important thing is confidentiality.

  • We have to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
  • And receive appropriate training before the next step.
  • This is because we have access to their product specifications and drawings.
  • They are not allowed to be leaked and spread.
  • And we need to make sure we will make no mistakes.

Just like the way we work with other customers.
It’s our bottom line to respect their intellectual properties.
And we will never share them with anyone without permission.

The second thing worth mentioning is more Engineering Change Notifications.
They are for changes in product designs, materials, and other aspects.

  • They have many inspection lists to update from time to time.
  • And we will need to train inspectors timely to make sure they do the right things.
  • In these cases, all inspection work will need to follow all the changes properly.

Some of the inspections are more complex.
Besides the conventional inspections – safety, IES, Spectrum, IP, packaging, etc.
We also need to check the performance of DMX512.

The third part to mention is about the factory production process.

  • That means not only taking care of the quality of the products.
  • But also making sure other aspects during production are right.
  • They include raw material management, IPQC work in place, instrument accuracy management, etc.

It is not a good practice to believe what a company says and jump to a conclusion.
But you need to verify whether it’s true or not.

After verifying our services as acceptable, A Group sends us small batches as trial orders.
Of course, we try our best to make sure the result is satisfactory.
Next, they decide to let us take care of all their Chinese suppliers for quality inspections.

Now I have shared with you three customer stories.
You already have an idea about what we do, and why it matters to you.

Last but not least, let us know if these stories mean something to you.
You can begin by verifying step by step too.

BackMorning people look forward to hearing from you sometime soon!
